Here in Hampshire, England is a newly restored stable block. But this is not any stable block, this stable used to be the home of a former Grand National winning horse.
Architects from AR Design studio took on the task to turn this Grade two listed single block into a three bedroom family home whilst preserving the key features of its history.
The stable structures are a strong feature that define the character of the home and therefore the architects kept the new additions clean and simple so as to highlight and not compete with these historical aspects.
The design also takes smaller details of the stable and incorporates it into a new function for example a horses water trough now becomes a sink and a tethering ring, once used to tie horses to now acts as a towel holding hoop.
