B3 Designers recently refurbished Ristorante Frescobaldi in Mayfair, London. In partnership with the Good Food Society and the famed Frescobaldi family, B3 sought inspiration from the family’s centuries-old history and patronage of fine wine. The design team worked to bring a refreshed look to the ground floor, basement, and al-fresco dining areas of the restaurant.
Main Restaurant Floor
On the ground floor, we shifted focus to the ceiling, exaggerating it with abundant hanging foliage interspersed with hanging pendants.
To evoke an Italian reminiscence, new rattan furniture was introduced, and the banquette seating was reupholstered.
The overall lighting was redone to be ambient, complemented by calming table lamps.
Basement Redesign
The basement of the restaurant needed to serve as an overflow space, as well as an exclusive private dining room. B3 reworked the layout for more efficient use of space, dark-stained the existing timber, added wine displays to create a separate private dining sphere, and enclosed existing shelves with glass. New ambient lighting, low-level lighting on tables, and brass details were introduced to elevate the mood. The furniture was refreshed to allow flexibility for tables to fit together into a long communal table for parties.
