Imli Street serves a unique menu inspired by Indian Street cuisines in a stylish Soho location, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The brief was to create the interior and branding to communicate the street food look and feel. Designing a casual space which still retained the element of comfort and sophistication in which people would want to spend more time in and enjoy.
We designed the space to completely opened up, allowing the 300 square metres to flow. Stripped back, it exposes brickwork and poured concrete walls, which are complemented by a centralised feature bar. The restaurant has soft zonal seating and contemporary furnishings.
Using materials in their natural and distressed states, such as the blackened steel bars, rustic oak timber table tops, creates a street-scene-vibe.
Exposed cabling and industrial light fittings create a gently illuminated rawness.
Light floods the back of the restaurant via the three windows which we unblocked. The view shows the iconic Soho Wardour Mews.
The Menu is reflective of the multi-layered diversity across India and features a range of dishes inspired by four distinctive elements from across the regions of India to give guests a real street food dining experience.
