We were appointed to design the latest project from the Good Food Society, owners of Ristorante Frescobaldi, Yosma and Soho’s Hovarda.
Caffè Cinquanta offers a nostalgic yet vibrant Italian café alongside adjoining Playa, a South American cocktail bar and music venue - both in the heart of Marylebone, on Baker Street.
At Playa (Spanish for ‘beach’), we created an atmospheric music and cocktail bar where the Amazonian jungle meets Tulum beach.
The 60-seat venue combines an eclectic mix of textures and natural materials that transport guests to a tropical place.
These include Mexican equipale chairs and bar stools, rattan armchairs, woven string pendant and raffia wall-mounted lights, dark tropical patterned wallpaper evoking a night-time setting, and dark wooden and deep green marble table-tops.
The blue-grey rendered textured walls, which inspire that evening beach party vibe, are decorated with greenery such as faux banana palms and tropical trailing plants that extend to the bar area and evoke a sense of lush outdoors.
Banquettes lining the space are a royal green suede and adorned with natural-fibre outdoor pillows.
Bespoke wooden plantation shutters provide revellers with privacy from the outside world.
We designed a concrete-topped bar, dotted with small lanterns, that stretches the length of the space and includes seating for up to 10. Backlit shelving behind the bar displays bottles of liqueur in an orderly fashion.
'We worked with B3 Designers on 3 different projects. I am so glad to find them, because all the B3 team are fast and easy to work with.'
